Asterix – The Mansions Of The Gods is an Action Adventure game that was developed by Neopica for the Nintendo 3DS and was released on November 28, 2014. Julius Caesar has a cunning plan of taking over the Gaulish village: build mansions near the village and convert the villagers to the Roman culture. He orders Squareonthehypothenus to build mansions. The villagers find Romans and their slaves working in the forest and try to stop them by replanting uprooted trees and growing new ones.
The villagers then decide to give the slaves some magic potion so they can free themselves, but this plan backfires – the slaves quickly finish the construction process, and civilians arrive to live in the new buildings. The villagers embrace them at first by selling them their products, but become corrupted by money. The solution is to force the civilians to abandon the mansions without violence: Obelix roars at them and Cacofonix is tricked into scaring them by playing music.
The villagers defeat the remaining Roman soldiers, restore order in the village, and have a banquet. Asterix: The Mansions of the Gods is loosely based on the animated film and comic book of the same name. Throughout the story the player needs to complete a number of simple minigames, most of which repeat. Minigames are started by walking up to Vitalstatistix.
Minigames can be replayed outside of the story by approaching the villagers and the village’s gates, as well as in Arcade mode (where the counter is replaced with a time limit). The game starts with quick unreplayable minigames where Dogmatix and Obelix chase and attack Squareonthehypothenus. When in the village, the map shows the villagers, Asterix’s house and the gates with blue circles. Vitalstatistix is shown with a yellow circle (blue after story completion).
