MapleStory – The Girl of Destiny known as MapleStory: Unmei no Shoujo in Japan is an Action RPG game developed and published by Nexon for the Nintendo 3DS. It was released exclusively in Japan on April 25, 2013, and was translated to English by WillTheLion. MapleStory – The Girl of Destiny is the first title from the franchise to be released on the 3DS and represents a big step forward for the series. It sees you take control of a young girl who has a mysterious spirit trapped inside her and the only way for her to be rid of it is to head out on an adventure!
The game will retain its simplistic look and playing style, with characters drawn up as sprites and everything being controlled by a single button. In keeping with the RPG genre you’ll be able to customize your character by selecting her weapon specialty and giving her a specific skill set. This single-player action/RPG is set in the MapleStory universe. Unlike MapleStory DS, the player controls one primary protagonist.
The story follows the adventures of a girl named Mugi as she sets out on a journey through the world. The gameplay is a mix of side-scrolling 2D platforming and beat-em-up style combat; RPG elements allow the player to equip Mugi with various items to customize her. Certain other allies she can meet throughout the game can join her on her journey and become controllable for parts of the game.
