Monster Hunter Diary – Poka Poka Airou Village DX also known as MonHun Nikki – Poka Poka Ailu Mura DX is a RPG game developed and published by Capcom for the Nintendo 3DS. It was released exclusively in Japan on September 10, 2015. Monster Hunter Diary – Poka Poka Airou Village DX is a spin-off installment in the Monster Hunter series. The word “Airou” is the Japanese equivalent of felyne (Ailuro is the Greek word for cat), a fictional sapient cat species that appears in the Monster Hunter games.
The player gives orders to the felynes to progress to the end of quests instead of having direct control over them. The game uses a more cartoonish art style as opposed to the more realistic style seen in the main Monster Hunter games. More emphasis is placed on style and village management. A few Hello Kitty items are also available in the game. Departing from the traditional action-oriented gameplay of the main series, this installment emphasizes village management and community building.
Players oversee a village inhabited by Felynes, engaging in activities such as: Assigning Felynes to various quests to gather resources, hunt monsters, or embark on adventures. Constructing and upgrading facilities to enhance the village’s prosperity and attract more inhabitants. Personalizing Felynes with different outfits and equipment, reflecting individual playstyles and preferences.
