Parascientific Escape – Cruise in the Distant Seas

Parascientific Escape – Cruise in the Distant Seas known in Japan as Chou Kagaku Dasshutsu Story – Zekkai no Gouka Kyakusen is a Visual novel Adventure game developed by Intense Ltd for the Nintendo 3DS and was released on July 09, 2014. Similarly to Spike Chunsoft‘s Zero Escape, the game is a visual novel adventure game with incorporates escape-the-room segments.

The player controls a young psychic called Hitomi Akeneno, as she attempts to find the truth behind mysterious circumstances occurring on a cruise ship. The game progresses between conversations with other characters presented as visual novel scenes and point-and-click adventure gameplay in which the player has various options in order to try and find a way to progress past their current location.

Hitomi Akeneno is a 16-year-old high school student with a little secret – she has not one, but two psychic powers. After receiving an invitation, she boards a luxury cruise ship with her friend, Chisono Shio. As soon as she enters a suite room, a loud explosion sounds and she finds herself stuck, unable to get out. Is this an accident? Or something far more sinister? The only way to find out is to escape, with the help of her powers.
