Description

Happy 11th Anniversary of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire!!! Alpha Sapphire is my childhood game. Back in the day, I had a copy of this, and I would play it on my brother’s 2DS that he begrudgingly gave to me every single time, and I would play through it…but not without Wonder Trading every single time to make my team. To be fair, I don’t even remember my original Alpha Sapphire team aside from my Blaziken and Plusle, but the thrill of playing through the game with a squad outside of the Pokédex. I haven’t been playing Alpha Sapphire normally since the services shut down outside of nuzlockes and other ROM hacks, but I wanted something to recreate the feeling from back then for others of my time. So now…

Features

  • Redesigned Pokédex: All Hoenn Pokémon and Mega Pokémon avaliable in the game, as well as 150+ evolutionary lines picked out by around eight people (I posted the poll in like six different subreddits and it kept getting removed lol, so this is my case of sampling). Overall there’s around 450+ Pokémon avaliable before Primal Kyogre!

  • Soar on Mega Latias before Route 102!: You can buy an Eon Flute from the Oldale Poké Mart! There has been an entire rework of the Mirage Spots, around 200 of the evolution lines in the game avaliable before the first gym!

  • Difficult, but not overly: All bosses have recieved a complete rework, with all of them having 4-5 Pokémon with the Champion having six. As well as that all gyms have unorthodox Pokémon , preventing complete sweeps! For example, Roxanne has a Bagon to defend from Water and Grass types.

  • Level Caps are: 15, 19, 24, 30, 33, 38, 46, 51, 59, 60, 61, 62 and 64.

  • New Starters: There is a completely new starter trio in the game, being Turtwig, Fennekin and Totodile! They all have new buffs to them too, Torterra getting Shell Smash and Shell Armor, Delphox getting a buffed Mystical Fire that works like Torch Song and Magic Guard/Magic Bounce, and Feraligatr getting Dark type, Sheer Force and Dragon Dance! As for the other starters, you can find them from the Mirage Spots and hordes on the Spots.

  • ORAS 2014 Gift: You’ll notice your starter is holding a Master Ball. That’s for the new Beldum which is guaranteed on Route 101, which has a Metagrossite and 3 perfect IVs!

  • Buffed Pokémon: Some of the weaker Pokémon in the docs have recieved new buffs, completely switching up the encounters! Some may be helpful but not game breaking, like a faster and bulkier Golurk, and some may switch up the style completely, such as weather formes for Castform now being Mega Evolutions!

  • New Evo Levels: A lot of evo levels are pretty unbalanced for the level caps set for this hack (mentioned below) so I’ve implemented new evo levels for many Pokémon, such as all pseudo legendaries now being the same as Garchomp!

  • Buffed Shiny Odds: They have now been Buffed to 0.15%, which I believe is around 1/683!

  • Buffed Learnsets: New moves have been given to Pokémon to give them more offensive coverage, like Mega Pidgeot with Focus Blast, Leafeon with Psycho Cut and Dusknoir with Shadow Claw! As well as this some moves have been buffed: Shadow Claw at 90BP, Wild Charge at no recoil, Fly at 100BP and Strength as a Rock type move with 95BP. You’ll find most new moves in the Move Reminder.

  • Easy Mega Stones and Items!: You can find most the evo stones at the Slateport Market, but for the unique evo items in the game, they’re now avaliable as a 50% chance for the base form Pokémon to hold, as well as Mega Stones too!

  • Go on a Legendary Hunt!: Most DexNav new Pokémon have been changed to sub legendaries and legendaries, with the static Pokémon being changed to box art legendaries and other mythicals! After Primal Kyogre, you can get every legendary except Rayquaza, Deoxys, Arceus, Mewtwo and Diancie.

Mirage Spots

There are 32 Mirage Spots in the game, each specialising in a specific type, there being two of each type except for Normal, Water, Dragon and Fairy, as Normal and Water can all be found in encounters easier and Dragon/Fairy is in short supply at the time. Here’s where you can find each type.

  • Mirage Island: Water, Ice, Flying, Psychic, Fairy
  • Mirage Cave: Ground, Rock, Steel, Fighting
  • Mirage Forest: Grass, Bug, Normal, Poison, Dragon
  • Mirage Mountain: Fire, Ghost, Electric, Dark

The encounter list for the Mirages isn’t in the docs, but that’s mainly for the randomness of it. I may add them in the future if there’s much demand for it though. And by the way, Mirage Spots feature here can be increased by StreetPassing with others, so I do recommend playing this on actual hardware. But keep in mind to avoid crashes, you have to patch the RO module with a modded 3DS. If you want to you can manipulate it with PKSM, but that takes out a bit of a randomness.

Changelog

V1.2

  • Battle thirty-five superbosses?!** You’re probably familiar with the PWT from B2W2, a feature that allows you to take part in a set of battles that grants you access to a gym leader to battle. I took inspiration from that in an obscure feature in the Battle Resort- the mini gym leaders. There’s these five people called Carnation, Antoin, Kelvin, Josephine and Felix who specialises in a particular type, however they have seven teams that they use at random each. So, I’ve used their teams as slight battle simulators- you can battle them once per day, and they’ll have a team of Pokémon from all across the games, each with their own exclusive Mega Pokémon! This ranges from Red, Alain, Jacinthe and even Nemona, using their Pokémon from all games to make a team from the first six generations (although I did make a few stretches- Nemona has a Mega Sceptile). The list is down here:
  • Kelvin: Red, Cynthia, Blue, Iris, Taunie/Urbain, Jacinthe and Silver.
  • Carnation: Lance, Barry, Calem/Serena, Me (:3), Diantha, Nemona and Marnie.
  • Josephine: Lusamine, Hop, Leon, Brock, Emma, Dawn and Irida.
  • Felix: Alain, Kieran, Guzma, N, Maxie, Giovanni and Lysandre.
  • Antoin: AZ, Corbeau, Cyrus, Naveen, Ghetsis, Ash and Prof. Oak.
  • It picks one of their set teams at random, so be prepared for anything!
  • Rebalanced post-game: To better fit in with the level caps of this game (which have not been modified since last time, however you’ll see the work around this soon), I’ve now modified all trainers in the post game so it’s not painfully easy! This includes giving Wallace a revised rain team that’s competitively set and Zinnia a team that hopefully won’t get slammed on by the Mega Rayquaza (you know it probably will be anyway). Even smaller battles like the Aqua Grunts are edited.
  • Buffed gym trainers: – One problem I had in the game was trying to make it to the level caps, and while I managed through them (except Wallace. Watch out for Wallace) I thought I’d find a way to buff them a bit. So, I’ve decided to buff each and every one of them so it’s slightly more possible to reach an appropriate level before the gym fight (and btw, if you see a gym trainer whose team doesn’t match their type, pay close attention to their name).
  • Revised shop prices: – This is mainly just for Potions, but I revised the shop prices to be a bit closer to Legends Z-A, as I found money to be a problem early on.
  • New shop items!: – Honey is now avaliable in every Poké Mart beyond the first gym, making horde hunting a lot easier, and also I noticed it was a bit unfair with a lot of the battle items the Elite 4 and Champion had being post game, so they’ve now been put in the Lilycove Department Store. (But keep in mind, they will be expensive.)
  • Elite 4 Rematch and Champion!: – I didn’t do this one last time because I was burnt out. Anyway, it’s finally been done, a squad that goes all out on your foe to find an ending for your squad after the superbosses, the level cap from this one going up all the way to 82.
  • Slightly boosted shiny odds: – This one’s just for fun. 1/512 now I think.
  • Starters are now balanced!: – I used two of the starters in the playthrough, and I found that the one my rival was using was…kind of unfair on my end. Turtwig and Fennekin don’t have great learnsets, whereas Totodile gets Dragon Dance at Level 15. I’ve done something unique for this though, giving Fennekin and Turtwig Flame Burst and Razor Leaf respectively with some further tools for their middle evos, while I’ve made Totodile learn it at Level 19, whereas Croconaw learns it at 32- however the level cap for Brawly is 18, so you’re risking a weak team member that’ll pay off eventually against Flannery.
  • Mirage Spot Documentation finally done!: – This one I really should’ve done from the start, but it’s finally here! I can’t really tell you which Mirage Spot it is so you still kind of have to second guess it, but it’s not like you can repel manipulate there for nuzlockes anyway so it doesn’t make that much of a difference. But now all the encounters are listed so you know what you’re getting.

V1.11

  • Price Nerfs: While I didn’t nerf the cost of Potions, Quick Balls and Max Repels are now accessible at an extremely cheap price for better navigation of the routes and catching every Pokémon you can find!
  • Moveset Changes: Turns out I didn’t give Milotic any Fairy moves despite changing it to be a Fairy type. Well, it’s now been fixed so it can learn it at Level 1. As well as this, some other Pokémon have got some useful move reminder moves too, and Flare Blitz is now a 110 base power move with only 10% recoil!
  • New Buffs: I ignored a lot of the Hoenn Pokémon that usually get buffed to infinity in this hack previously because several other hacks had the same concept, but now I’ve given several buffs to Hoenn Pokémon that suffered previously (Plusle and Minun, Volbeat and Illumise, Cacturne and Luvdisc), and even some changes to Pokémon to make them worth the effort and time like Flygon, Huntail and Gorebyss. Furthermore Flareon and Glaceon have been buffed to have 95 Speed like Leafeon.
  • Evolution Changes: This one isn’t as huge, but I nerfed some of them to be around on their second (final) stage by Norman, which is the first gym leader with all fully evolved Pokémon.
  • Level Cap Nerfs: I decided to slightly bring down the level caps for this game because I admit I was slightly unfair with the game going from 15 to 19, considering that there’s barely any trainers to fight in between it. So the new level caps are 14, 17 and 23, but the rest are the same. None of the gym leaders are nerfed though.
  • Team Aqua Buffs: And writing this I’ve only now realised I uploaded the file without changing that Level 1 Wailmer. Anyway, Shelly and Matt now have increased squads of up to three Pokémon each, Shelly having Gorebyss and Matt having Clawitzer and Dragalge. They’re not that difficult considering they don’t have custom moves, but they’re worth a bit of time to fight, especially for Matt as you’ll have a mostly fully evolved team when you fight him.
  • Horde Encounter Changes: I capitalised off the encounters a bit, and decided to make some of the late game areas good for shiny hunting some of the Mega Pokémon! You have the starters in their respective Mirage Spot of course, but I recommend trying out Sweet Scent in some areas like Jagged Pass and Route 119. However, this actually doesn’t affect a lot here, as I haven’t documented it and barely any of them made it anyway. But still, hordes are at least now worth your time. (P.S: Use it on Route 101. You’ll absolutely want to shiny hunt there.)
  • Now It’s a Poochyena!: If you encountered an Eevee and experienced the game crashing afterwards, I’m extremely sorry for that, I thought it was the static Poochyena you get from the DexNav! But it’s been now changed back to a Poochyena, so you can easily take it down.

V1.1

  • Fixed an issue where if there are 18 encounters in one area, it would become inaccessible, which meant v1.0 couldn’t be played beyond the Slateport Museum. I have now fixed that issue hopefully, and to my knowledge it only affected Route 110, Route 118, Route 123 and Meteor Falls.
