Description

I grew up with the sixth generation of Pokémon, Y was my first main series game, and to this day remains one of my favorites. There’s one issue, though: It’s so damn easy!!! I wanted to fix that without changing the core of the game’s trainers, and I think I’ve accomplished that with Pokémon Trash Can Y, a trashlocke of Gen 6! Here’s an idea of some of the changes.

Features

  • Many evolutions have been moved to later in the game or removed entirely
  • The actually good HMs have had their base power reduced
  • EVs have been removed completely outside of the handful of vitamins in the overworld
  • Yveltal’s stats have been nerfed to 380 BST to make it worse, but almost every other gift or static Pokémon is replaced with something worse.
  • The starters are Hoppip, Slugma, and Remoraid
  • This game is designed for nuzlocking, so rare candies and other useful items are buyable at different points in the game, setup moves have had their PP nerfed, the weather TMs are removed, and the prices of important items in poke marts have been reduced to remove the need for item farming/fighting optional trainers to get more money. Obviously though, you can play it however you wish! I hope you have fun either way 🙂

General Changes

  • ALL fishing and surfing encounters are changed to Magikarp unless specified otherwise. Any location that has wild Magikarp means you are NOT INTENDED to catch a Pokémon there, and this includes the route 7 Snorlax – It’s not your encounter!!
  • This game only uses Pokémon in the native Kalos Dex, if it’s not in XY, it’s not in the trashlocke!
  • If you are nuzlocking, please do not catch any trashcan/shadow encounters in caves, lost hotel, or Pokémon village! I don’t know how to change them just yet, and until I can, they are not intended to be used.
  • Rare candies are sold in every Pokemart & the Potion Shop in Aquacorde Town (where you get your starter).
  • Berry juices are buyable in every mart after 2 badges
  • Sitrus berries, lum berries, and heart scales are sold in every mart after 6 badges
  • The weather TMs have been replaced with – Sunny Day (TM11, Lumiose City South Boulevard Mart): TM48 Round
  • Rain Dance (TM18, Lumiose City South Boulevard Mart): TM23 Smack Down
  • Hail (TM07, Shalour City Mart): TM59 Incinerate
  • Sandstorm (TM37, Shalour City Mart): TM51 Steel Wing
  • The vitamins in the Laverre City Mart have been replaced with various postgame TMs.

Balance Changes

  • Surf, Waterfall, & Scald have all been nerfed to 60 base power
  • Fly & Strength have been nerfed to 65 base power, but fly is now 100% accurate
  • Clamperl no longer learns Shell Smash
  • Hoppip now learns tackle at level 5, so it can actually attack in the tutorial Shauna fight
  • If a Pokémon evolution is removed, Eviolite won’t work on it! The Pokémon listed are the highest evolvable forms of their evolution line, and it is safe to assume all of their pre-evolutions are catchable. Exceptions to this are at the end of the available Pokémon list.
  • Yveltal’s stats have been nerfed, and it no longer learns Oblivion Wing.
  • Clamperl now learns Water Pulse at level 5, this is to prevent a bug that caused the game to crash on launch when I took away Shell Smash??
  • Some setup moves have had their PP reduced. I won’t list them all, but you’ll see in-game (the big ones are Shell Smash to 1 and Dragon Dance to 2)
  • Frenzy plant, blast burn, and hydro canon are now 130 base power, 85% accurate, and have no drawback & can be learned by Jumpluff, Octillery, Magcargo, and the middle stage Kanto/Kalos starters.

Static/Gift Changes

  • The fossils have been changed; this is reflected in the ambrette town encounter listing
  • The gift Lucario is now an Unown
  • The kalos starters have been replaced with hoppip, slugma, and remoraid – Calem/Serena & Shauna’s starters are unchanged!
  • The static Snorlax on Route 7 is now a Magikarp – DO NOT CATCH IT!
  • The Lumiose Kanto starters have been replaced with the Kalos Starters
  • The fossils have been replaced with weak normal types
  • The gift Lapras has been replaced with a Wooper

Changelog

V1.1

  • Swapped some of the TMs in Laverre City Mart (originally EV vitamins) for weather rocks
  • Reduced PP of all weather moves to 1
  • Increased levels of some gym leader Pokémon (List at the end of patch notes)
  • Gave gym leader AI to all Calem/Serena fights + Viola
  • Moved Rare Candies in Aquacorde Town from the potion shop to the poke ball shop, meaning the scripted route 2 pidgey is no longer catchable.
  • Gym leader Pokémon changed:
  • Korrina’s mienfoo and machoke are now level 30
  • Ramos’ Jumpluff is now level 31
  • Valerie’s Mawile and Mr. Mime are now level 40
  • Olympia’s sigilyph and slowking are now level 46
