The Band of Thieves & 1000 Pokemon

The Band of Thieves & 1000 Pokemon also known as Touzoku to 1000-Biki no Pokemon in Japan, is an Action game developed by Marvelous AQL for the Nintendo 3DS. It was released exclusively in Japan on June 05, 2014. It served as a promotional tie-in to the 17th Pokémon movie, Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction. One day, in a forest that is home to many Pokémon, a Carbink shows up pleading for someone to recover a stolen treasure. Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie hear his plea and immediately gather some friends and set off after the culprit. After defeating a couple of guards standing in their way, the group recovers the stolen diamond.

They return the diamond to the Carbink, Dace, who thanks them. Dace begins to explain the diamond’s importance to the Diamond Domain when Merrick, Bolt, and Allotrope appear with news that many more diamonds have been stolen by the same Pokémon, who they suspect were under orders from human thieves. Even worse, two of their national treasures, the Sunset Diamond and the Night Sky Diamond, were stolen. In this game, players build an army of Pokémon—specifically Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie—to battle against a band of thieves who have stolen precious diamonds from the Diamond Domain.

The primary objective is to recover these stolen treasures across 16 main stages and 4 additional EX stages. The other aspect of the game is the battles. Battles start once the player enters a stage. It is determined by two factors. First is numbers. If the player has a sufficiently large army, then they’ll be able to get through the stages and defeat the opposing Pokémon. The second factor is type. Like all Pokémon games, type is a significant factor, so if the player sends waves of the grass-type Chespin against a fire-type Pokémon like Delphox, they’ll require more Chespin to get through as their attacks wouldn’t be very effective.

Alternatively, if they use waves of the water-type Froakie, it’ll take far less as their attacks would be super effective. The player selects which Pokémon by using the touch screen or the A, Y, and X buttons. Players can see their progress at the bottom of the top screen. Their progress is the orange part that comes from the left, and the opponent’s is the red part that comes from the right. When either color fills the entire bar, the battle is complete. Once it’s complete, it tells the player what and how many Pokémon you lost.
