ROM Information

Pokemon Alpha Sapphire Repolished is a 3DS ROM Hack by DynamoKota based on Pokemon Alpha Sapphire in English. It was last updated on June 21, 2026.

Description

Pokemon Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby Repolished is focused on making these games a little bit harder (without going overboard), almost like Pokemon X/Y Rebirth, Now, I don’t think OR/AS were quite in need of this type of hack compared to X/Y, but I can’t deny that some of the choices made in terms of trainers’ teams were underwhelming, to say the least (such as Wattson and Liza/Tate’s teams, low AI on the rivals, too many trainers with one single Pokemon, etc.).

Features

  • Most major trainers have had overhauls (Gym Leaders, Rivals, Team Magma/Aqua Admins & Bosses, Elite Four, Champion, and Zinnia), with new moves, abilities, held items, high IVs, etc.
  • Regular trainers around the Hoenn region are a little bit closer to Emerald in terms of the amount of Pokemon they use, so now there a lot more trainers that use 3+ Pokemon!
  • Trade evolutions are now optional; most of them can now also evolve at a certain level, but the details can be found on the changelog.
  • Some other Pokemon evolve at lower levels, but most (if not all) of them aren’t native to Hoenn. (So you’d really only notice this change in postgame, after transferring, or if you randomize the game)
  • Wally’s battle theme (at Victory Road; I think it’s also his encounter theme in the postgame) has been replaced with the remix from Pokémon Masters EX; the original was too short, and this version is so much better!

Changelog

V1.7.6

  • I bit the bullet and decided to give Winona Mega Altaria.
I was hesitant at first, partially because Altaria, the only realistic Mega option for her, loses its Flying typing upon Mega Evolving. The other reason is because I felt like it’d be weird if Winona had a Mega and Liza & Tate didn’t. But on second thought, not only does Mega Altaria not being Flying feel like as big of a deal (it still starts out as Flying, AND Altaria is already her ace), but it’s also probably not a big deal that Liza & Tate still don’t use a Mega Evolution (I just don’t think its feasible; they either have a single Mega, which feels off thematically, or two Megas, which feels overpowered mechanically).
Also, to make up for Winona’s Altaria now Mega Evolving:
  • It has a more straightforward “3 Attacks + Roost” moveset.
  • Skarmory has had its held item removed.
  • I buffed Ace Trainer Vito a bit.
I won’t add his team to the documentation, since he’s still not a “major trainer” IMO, but he is the strongest of the Winstrate family that is foreshadowed earlier in the game (if you fight the Winstrate Family, whose house is north of Mauville). He used to have middling IVs with no coded movesets (which means that the game just fills out with default level-up movesets), but now his Pokemon have fully-coded movesets and above-average IVs!
  • I’ve merged the “Version Exclusive” patch into the main hack.
It was obvious everyone playing my hacks were installing this patch anyway, so I decided to just go ahead and make it a regular feature rather than something optional.
  • I’ve added an optional, experimental patch that lowers the base Exp. yield of all Pokemon by 10%.
With my hacks, I’ve typically focused on increasing the levels of the NPCs’ Pokemon based around what I thought was right for the general level curve, but I never thought about lowering the Exp. yield of all Pokemon by a percentage as well to help hone the level curve. I haven’t tested this as much, so let me know how it works. You still shouldn’t leave the Exp. Share on with this patch applied though; I don’t think the 10% Exp. decrease is enough to make up for the Exp. Share.

V1.7.4

  • Flannery’s Numel now has Oblivious as its ability, and has Rock Tomb over Flame Charge. I thought Simple would be a cool tactic with Flame Charge raising its Speed by 2, and then I forgot it also meant that a single Overheat would lower its Sp.Atk by 4 stages. Oops.
  • Norman’s Kecleon has Shadow Sneak over Sucker Punch (just a slight nerf in some ways, a buff in others. Just generally prefered it for being more straightforward).
  • Glacia’s Froslass is now holding a Life Orb and has Blizzard/Thunderbolt/Shadow Ball/Psychic. I gave Glacia way too many setup moves (Dual Screens, both Spikes and Stealth Rocks, and Thunder Wave, which was WAY too much, even for the Elite Four. Plus, it’s nice to have the occasional “4 attacks” mon, which my former self underestimated the value of. Also yeah, the Bright Powder + Snow Cloak thing I gave to that Froslass was admittedly kinda cheesy.

V1.7.2

  • Many major trainers have had overhauls, with new Pokemon, movesets, abilities, held items, etc.
  • All Gym Leaders/Elite Four/Champion’s Pokémon have 30-31 IVs in all of their stats. This was the case for Black 2/White 2 Challenge Mode, so it seemed applicable here. Brendan/May (in their final battle), Wally (Victory Road battle onward), and Archie/Maxie have this change as well.
  • Regular trainers in general have more Pokemon, closer in quantity to what their Emerald counterparts had (so there are actually some trainers with 3+ Pokemon who aren’t Breeders!)
  • Many Pokémon have updated moves, stats and held items.
  • Any Pokémon that would evolve by trading (without items) can now also evolve at Level 37 (except Pumpkaboo and Phantump), and ones that evolve by trading while holding an item evolve by leveling while holding said item instead.
  • Pokemon Evolution Changes – Shelmet/Karrablast evolve by leveling up with the other Pokémon in your party.
  • Litleo evolves at Level 30 rather than 35.
  • Pumpkaboo and Phantump evolve with a Dusk Stone, as well as via trade
  • Skrelp evolves into Dragalge at Level 37 instead of 48 (to match Clauncher)
  • Eevee evolves into Espeon with a Sun Stone, Umbreon with a Moon Stone, Leafeon with a Leaf Stone, Glaceon with a Shiny Stone, and Sylveon with high Friendship.
  • Rufflet and Vullaby evolve at level 34 rather than 54
  • Larvesta evolves level 49 rather than level 59
  • Deino evolves at level 40 rather than 50
  • Zweilous evolves at level 54 rather than level 64
  • Pawniard evolves at level 42 rather than 52
  • Mienfoo evolves at level 40 rather than 50
